Your Dog Fitness FAQ: Everything You Need to Know About How to Exercise Your Dog

Welcome to our Dog Fitness FAQ, created to help dog owners understand how to exercise their dog safely, effectively, and consistently. Whether you’re new to structured workouts or looking for ways to improve your dog’s routine, this guide provides clear answers, expert insight, and helpful tips.

Below, you’ll find answers to the most common questions we receive about dog exercise, mobile dog fitness, and how our specialized sessions work.

What are your hours and service areas?

Visit the Contact Us page to book your free consultation.

Our running hours are generally 6:00am–4:00pm, but they may vary as we build optimized weekly routes.

We currently service:

  • Navarre
  • Navarre Beach
  • Holley
  • Midway (east of Ocean Breeze Lane)

We hope to expand our mobile dog fitness services to other nearby areas soon.

How long are the workout sessions?

Sessions typically last 20–30 minutes, depending on your dog’s age, health, and breed. Clinicians have found that 30 minutes is ideal for maintaining mental focus, promoting cardiovascular activity, and building muscle without overexerting your dog or risking injury from exhaustion. Sessions may be shorter for dogs who are not yet conditioned for a full workout or have medical or physical limitations that restrict their exercise.

How often should I schedule my dog for exercise?

During your consultation, we’ll discuss:

  • Your dog’s current routine
  • Their energy level
  • Behavior concerns
  • Health or weight goals

From there, we’ll recommend the best frequency — often 2–4 sessions per week for optimal results. Our mission is to help you understand how to exercise your dog in a way that improves both their behavior and their health.

Can you work with multiple dogs together?

Yes — but only under specific conditions.
Our mobile dog gym provides private, 1:1 sessions. The only time we run multiple dogs together (up to two at a time) is when:

  • They live together
  • They are pre-approved neighbors or friends
  • They are comfortable and safe running together

Safety and focus always come first.

What can I expect BEFORE a session?

Once your membership is active:

  • Please allow a 30-minute arrival window before or after your scheduled time.
  • A signed Consent Form must be completed before the first session.
  • You’ll receive two reminder texts — one 24 hours before and one 30 minutes prior.
  • Feed your dog at least 2 hours before exercise to avoid discomfort from a full stomach.
  • Feel free to use your own harness or use one of ours.

You may walk your dog out to us, or grant access for us to retrieve them safely.

What happens DURING a session?

We provide:

  • Constant supervision
  • Positive reinforcement
  • Encouragement through praise, toys, and affection
  • Customized pacing based on your dog’s needs

We focus on balancing mental and physical effort, giving your dog breaks and water as needed. You are always welcome to watch if you’d like.

What happens AFTER a session?

Depending on the workout intensity, your dog may:

  • Rest and cool down
  • Have a short burst of playful energy
  • Feel mild soreness the next day (normal for unconditioned or older dogs)

We recommend:

  • Gentle rubdowns for muscle recovery
  • Plenty of water
  • Feeding after their heart rate returns to normal

This is all part of healthy, structured dog exercise and conditioning.

How long does it take for dogs to learn the treadmill?

Most dogs learn the basics in about 5 minutes.

Because our treadmills are non-motorized, your dog controls the pace — making it safe, natural, and confidence-building. With each session, their coordination, balance, and enthusiasm improve.

Let us know about your dog’s quirks or special needs so we can tailor their training.

When will my dog run full speed?

Every dog is different. Some take off right away; others build confidence over a few sessions.

The key is this:
Dogs do NOT have to run fast to get a great workout.

Even at a moderate pace, dogs engage:

  • Core muscles
  • Stability and balance
  • Focus and mental drive
  • Cardiovascular endurance

Our Golden Rule:
The Dog Is Always Right.

Do I need to be home during sessions?

We encourage you to be present for the consultation so everyone can meet and your dog feels supported.

After that, you may:

  • Hand your dog off at the door
  • Walk them to the mobile gym
  • Allow us to safely retrieve and return them

We are fully insured and bonded.

How is payment handled?

We accept:

  • Credit cards
  • Debit cards
  • Cash

Package reminders are sent when you have 60 minutes left.

What are the requirements for my dog to participate?

All clients must:

  • Consult their veterinarian before starting any new regimen
  • Be at least 4 months old
  • Be up to date on all vaccinations
  • Fit within our equipment capacity (10–95 lbs)

We accommodate dogs who are:

  • Shy

Tell us your dog’s needs — we’re here to help.

What is your cancellation policy?

Owners agree to keep their scheduled sessions. We understand that dogs, people, and life can be unpredictable at times. To help prevent unexpected changes, we send confirmation texts 24 hours in advance and again 30 minutes prior to the scheduled session. Sessions are assumed confirmed unless otherwise noted. One cancellation per month with a 12 hour notice is allowed. All other missed sessions will be debited from your package.
